Mickey Troxell is Centaur University's Founder and Chief Executive Officer as well as our In Class Practicum Course Instructor. In addition to an MS in Psychology, a BS in Behavioral Science and an AA in Human Services, Ms. Troxell has over 18 years of professional experience in the field of chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, experiential therapy, and domestic violence counseling. She has previously owned her own Treatment Facility, has worked as a Clinical Director, a Program Director and a Case Manager, and has had a private practice for counseling and Equine Assisted Therapy for individuals and groups for many years in the local recovery community. Ms. Troxell is well-respected within the field of Chemical Dependency Counseling and brings wonderful enthusiasm to her counseling and classrooms.
Richard Larson, BA, ICADC, CADC II ~ Sr. Instructor, CDC Program

Our Senior Instructor for our daytime Mon-Fri CDC Course is Mr. Richard Larson, BA, ICADC, CADC II. Richard is a Level II Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-II) with CAADAC and an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC) with the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC). Mr. Larson has a BA in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and a strong clinical and instructional background; he has spent years counseling patients as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor, as a Clinical Supervisor, and as Treatment Program Director in both social and medical model residential treatment settings. Mr. Larson's experience and his passion for the Chemical Dependency Counseling field make him an invaluable asset to Centaur and to our students' education as future counselors.
Rick Thomas, MS, CATC

Rick Thomas is the instructor for our daytime Saturday CDC Course. He is a Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor with a MS in Counseling and a BS in Human Services and Community Development and a member of CAADE (California Association of Drug and Alcohol Counselors) and CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists). Mr. Thomas has many years of experience in the recovery field as a Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, Alcohol Educator, and Group Leader, as well as facilitating addiction and psychotherapy workshops at various addiction treatment facilities across the United States. He is published by the Breining Research and Education Foundation, and has previously taught courses including "Co-occuring Disorders" and "Treatment Issues in Substance Abuse" at Loyola Marymount and California State University.
Tim Williams, BS ~ Online Instructor for CDC Program

Tim is our online instructor for the Chemical Dependency Counselor program. Tim holds a degree in psychology and sociology. He has been director of business development for a major medical-model treatment program where he was responsible for Admissions. Tim has also managed two sober-living facilities. In addition to Tim's professional experience in the field of chemical dependency treatment, he has personal experience in the field of recovery and has 16 years of sobriety. Tim’s past includes managing regional and a national hospital and medical group contracting in managed care and consulting with hospitals on strategic marketing projects. Tim is an avid outdoorsman, spending free time hiking, trail bicycling, and kayaking. Tim is also active in advocating for the homeless.
Scott Stapley, BS, CADC-I ~ Online Practicum Instructor for CDC Program

Scott spent 25 years in the financial services industry where he worked for the largest firms in the world in executive management positions. Scott's last position was as Vice President and Senior Investment Specialist for Credit Suisse Asset Management in N.Y. He has worked as a Primary Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Coordinator and Program Director with several dual diagnosis treatment centers in Orange County, California. Scott is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist from American Pacific University where he studied pre-med at BYU. Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Utah University in Education, and Physiology and Health, and graduate studies in Alcohol and Drugs from the University of Utah, and he studied Chemical Dependency Counseling at the Institute of Chemical Dependency Studies.
